Hi, anyone with an Esprit V8 had their belts replaced in NC. I've tried Evans but he's booked up until October. I am waiting on a quote from Foreign Accents but I have no experience with them and do not know if they have the equipment - they say they do and say they can do the job although they didn't specifically answer my question when I asked directly if they had experience with the job. So, I'd like to hear of the experiences of others, if any. Last time I had gone to Atlanta to have the work done but I don't really want the 800+ mile round trip with hotels etc while I wait - but it may be better than having the consequent costs of an engine rebuild if incorrectly done. LoD is definitely out of the running since they have not done the job before either. Any help appreciated. Thanks.

You might want to check with Y2k Silver Bullet. He is in that area, has a V-8 Esprit and has had some dealing with Foreign Accents. I had some clutch work done there and could tell you about my overall experience with them, but that's it. Too bad you cant get in to have Evans do it. He would be the best option in my opinion.

I think Russ, our fearless leader, has had some good experiences with major engine work in the Charlotte area.

Well, it looks like JAE rents out all the necessary tools (pins and Clavis Gauge), to do the job for under $200. Add $500 or so for the belts and other parts, (tensioner's and pulleys - if needed), and the job can be done for under $750 if including other small parts and materials. This compares very favourably with the $2,500+ commercial quote. Just need to roll up my sleeves and get stuck in.

Peter, you must have a strong back. It kills me to bend over for that long working under the hood. I did a header install for one of my Corvette buddies a while back and that about cured me of working under a hood. Now, if I can afford it... someone else gets to do it.

The belt change is no fun without a lift.
I always use Automotive International here in Charlotte. They've done great work for me in the past. They did my 25K service awhile back, which was simpler with the engine out...

They did the whole B service. I also had them do the clutch while the motor was out.
