Lotus will reveal the Exige Scura at the Tokyo Auto Show this week, a special-edition speed demon that's lighter, bolstered with performance refinements and wrapped in black exterior packaging.

Scura translates as “dark” in Italian, and that is derived from the high-gloss phantom black triple stripes that run the length of the car, giving it a menacing yet sporty look. The rest of the exterior is coated in a “soft-feel” matte black finish.

Lightweight carbon-fiber parts slim the Scura by about 22 pounds. Lotus's launch and traction-control features are standard. That's the outside, but lurking beneath is a supercharged 1.8-liter motor that makes 257 hp. The car can run to 60 mph in four seconds and can clock a top speed of a 152 mph.

The Exige Scura will be limited to just 35 copies. It will be called the Exige Stealth in Japan.

Would consider getting one but with 35 in the world 3 or 4 will show up in G'boro or WS for sure.  Grin

BTW, have you had any more electrical gremlins in the dash pod?  We were out last Saturday evening and mine went bonkers.  We were just driving down I-40 and all of a sudden the dash lights came on super bright, tach and speedo went to "0", right signal indicator came on along with the ABS light and "!", and odometer and fuel gauge went out completely.  This is the first time this particular set of anomalies has happened.  And when I unhooked the ground on the battery to reset it, the alarm came on.  Even after completely disconnecting the battery, the alarm continued to sound (albeit very quietly) for some time.  There must be a seperate battery on the alarm system.  We went in Carrabas, had dinner and then hooked everything back up and all was normal again.

If it weren't so much fun to drive, I would sell it.

Knock on wood... no problems. I have had to work a ton and have not put a lot of time on the Lotus clock.  My alarm is still a bit sensitive so I have not been using the alarm.  The guy in Durham said that if mine acted up again the only fix was to replace the entire dash.  I have bought a new toy for my daily driver a 2010 E550 coupe so I have put a bit more time on it the last month more than the Lotus.

I'm cursing myself by opening my mouth, but you know, the Esprit hasn't had a single electrical problem... loser

Plus I just really wanted to use a smiley... thefinger
