Is there a planned time--or was it stated and I just missed it?

Gary any suggestions on timing?  10 or 11 maybe?  Do you have a route planned?

Just talked to Gary...we'll meet at the Pilot Mountain Scenic Overlook / rest stop as planned at 10:15 and will roll out by 10:30.  I'll get there around 10:00 and get some pics of people arriving.  The weather shows a 40% chance of rain.  Let's hope we're in the 60% chance of "dry" zone Smiley

I can probably make this.  Is there a K'ville launch time/place?

Sorry I haven't been around to answer questions.  We just got in from the mountains.

The meeting area, Pilot Mountain Scenic overlook, is difficult to get to if you are coming South on Hwy 52.  It is at mile marker 128 and there isn't an exit until 123 (King - Tobaccoville).  What I plan on doing for those coming from Charlotte is stopping at Exit 8 on I-74.  That is the Red Bush exit.  There is a huge Exxon Mart right off the exit.  Those of us from Kernersville, Winston and Raleigh will leave the Overlook at 10:30.  We will be at the Exxon at 10:45.  We will not be there long, just long enough for the last pee break and a splash of fuel for anyone needing it.  Next stop will be lunch at Fancy Gap.

If you totally blow it and miss us at both places, we will head up I-74 to I-77 North.  We will exit at Exit 1 just inside the Virginia line.  Turn left at the bottom of the ramp and head up Pipers Gap to the Blue Ridge Parkway.  We will head North on the Parkway to Fancy Gap.  Lakeside Restaurant will be our lunch stop.  It is on the west side of the Parkway, just off the exit.  We should be there by 11:30.  Fuel is available next door. THis will be the last opportunity for fuel on this trip!

Looking forward to seeing everyone again!

Great run. Good seeing everyone.

Did y'all run into the same storm line that I ran into, or did you beat it? I put the top on when I got to I77.

We got one BIG drop on the windshield right before we got off I-40.  But that was it.  It clouded up and I would have bet it would rain or storm, but nothing.

Sounds like it was a successful event.

I guess I'm a shallow sell out and traded mountain driving for drinking beer and cheap vodka with freshmen girls  Cheesy

anything eventful happen?

Not sure if you would call it eventful or not, but everyone behind me found out that Pipers Gap wasn't a one way road when the pick-up truck met us in the twisties.  We all found out where the other end of Squirrel Spur is when I took a wrong turn.  Dave discovered that he could eat lunch for under $4.00.  And Orchard Gap is probably curvier and steeper than Deal Gap.  You missed a good time.

The bigger question is, did "anything eventful happen" with you?  :devilish

I also learned that the front splitter of the S4 is more durable than that of the V8.  On one turn down Orchard Gap it literally scraped around the whole turn like a snow plow.  Maybe that will save some wear and tear on the tires.
