Hi all,
I'm Maggie (obviously, I suppose), and I've just moved to Durham from Maryland. Not sure how active the Lotus community is down here--it seems like there's always stuff going on in MD/NoVa and I hope it's like that here too! I drive an '05 racing green Elise (daily driver and currently my only car). Looking forward to meeting some new people down here!

Does anyone organize fun drives in the area? I like a good spirited drive and would love to find some local roads. I went out to the Dragon this past weekend on my way here and it was fun--a bit too much slow motorcycle traffic/cops to really go but still fun!

Welcome Maggie! We have been a bit lax the past couple months, but we do try to get out together every month or so for a drive. Check the gallery for pics of some past events.

Great looking car!

I'm going to try to make it out for a drive one of these Sundays. I've just been so busy lately. I am thinking it could happen in mid-August.

Welcome aboard Maggie! I hope you and your roommate can make it to our Friday evening get together. Seems everyone has been pretty busy this summer and not a lot of group drives going on. But, if you want to go driving, I can tell you where the best roads are. Unfortunately, not much down in your area, but lots and lots of good roads around here.

When I can't go driving, I can always relive past drives on Youtube. Here is one of our outtings on Squirrel Spur http://www.youtube.com/v/XLKmnMrylU8&rel=0

Shelly and I will definitely be there this evening. I don't mind driving an hour to find good roads--in fact, typically our drives up in MD would start 45 minutes to an hour away from my house, so I'd love to hear about good area roads!

Let's take it as an action item to organize Squirrel Spur v2.0 tonight at dinner.

Sorry, I've been pouring over strategic plans all day so things like "action item" tend to pirate their way into my vocabulary. Maybe we could also outline a set of robust core automotive deliverables to enhance our collective vehicular aptitude while maintaining strict cost controls in our car repair supply chain...Bob, you're in business school so that should have made perfect sense.

my head is spinning...I need a beer. scared or excited

Dave, I think it's gonna take more than "a" beer to cure your problem.

Squirrel Spur V2.0 sounds like a plan. Actually, Pipers Gap to BRP to Fancy Gap for lunch, THEN a run down and back up Squirrel Spur sounds more like a plan! Or maybe even a tour of the winery along the way?

Welcome! How do you like driving the Lotus as a daily?

As a daily--well, mostly I really like it. I work from home, so I don't have to commute; otherwise, it might be too much. I have gotten over worrying about scraping the nose on unexpectedly steep entrances. It happens and I move on and just spend an hour fixing it every so often. The only other problem is that I like having the top off too much and haven't yet gotten used to it being so hot! We do have to take my roommate's car if we need to pick up anything large, but so far it hasn't been an issue.

I'm in for Squirrel Spur, looks like fun!
