I am just trying to weigh the options between increased desirability and appreciation potential of the Charlotte address versus reduced tax burden in SC.
Just got back from Berlin and have seen this - Congrats Bob!
Don't count Fort Mill out for appreciation potential. We have a house just one mile over the border and prices seem to be holding up very well here. Essentially you are buying into an area that is not fully developed yet (think start-up company), so one could argue that there is more room for increase here than in South Charlotte.
You could also consider; Tega Cay or Baxter, if you wanted areas just south of the border, that hold values well.
Some already pointed out, but
- 50% less property taxes
- no vehicle inspection - I have not CAT on my car!!!
- more house/land for your money
- no helmets on motorbikes!!
- FIREWORKS!!!
