What - The Gathering
When - April 18th, 2009
Where - Shelton Vineyards


OK gang, it is that time of year again. The Gathering is being held at Shelton Vineyards on April 18th. Last year we had a record turnout and shocked the organizers, who had never had a Lotus class before and certainly never had ~17 Lotus rumble through the gate together. I notice on this years registration that they have already created a class for us  :devilish

Just like last year, we will setup two convoys, one coming from Charlotte/SC  and another from the Raleigh/Greensboro/Winston-Salem area. Please get those registrations in and post back here to confirm you are in! I would REALLY like to beat the turnout from last year.

Charlotte crew - I propose meeting at the Cashions gas station on your right as you get off I-77 northbound at exit 28 at 7:30 am (ouch!). That would put us meeting up with the Winston Salem crew between 8:30 and 9:00. Please try to get there on promptly so we can get moving.
 
Winston Salem crew – Burple is organizing the departure from McDonalds on Stratford Road (at Thruway Shopping Center) around 8:00am. Again, please try to get there promptly. Please send Burple_X a message to get his cell phone number.

Stragglers that can't meet up with either convoy - We will be combining convoys at Citgo Station off exit 79 on I-77.  We expect to be there between 8:30 and 9:00. Here's the exit:

There is a seperate lot for spectator parking if you are bringing two cars.

Get the registrations in early! The more pre registrations we get in, the more awards we are eligible for.

I'm in, but just for Saturday.  If I don't have a chance to get the suspension fixed by then, I'll be looking for anyone with an empty passenger seat...I really don't want to miss this one.

Christopher wants to know if you want us to bring a canopy for the "class"?

We will be staying at the Hampton Inn Mt Airy which is about 15 minutes away coz the other Inn is sold out. They did honor the Gathering rate however.

as far as the canopy, dont worry about it. If we are where were last year, we have plenty of shade, concessions, and restrooms next door. I am talking to the organizers again and will try to stake the same spot. I think they tried putting us off to the side last year and were shocked when we showed up in force, loud, and brightly painted. We also weren't smoking or dripping (much) oil Smiley

When is everyone heading up there?  We are planning on doing the Blue Ridge drive on Friday and staying all day Saturday.  We love to convoy, but may end up joining some of you from just outside of town on Saturday morning.
