What did you think about the inauguration today?

The speech was good. I just hope he can make it all come true, preferably without breaking the tax payers back. And I was impressed that he chose to walk the parade route. It shows some of the same bravado as George W. did in his stunts like landing on the air craft carrier and sneeking into Iraq for Christmas with the troops.

It was funny to watch the interaction of the attendees. As Laura Bush was making her way into the Capital, she snubbed Nancy Pelosi (which cracked me up). She was hugging and shaking everyone's hand, then skipped right over Nancy. Jimmy Carter did the same thing to Bill Clinton. He stopped and shook hands with George H.W. Bush, then totally ignored Bill. Barbara Bush on the other hand, warmly embraced Bill, as did George H.W. Bush. George H.W also tagged the honor guard as he walked past him. I'm sure the soilder smiled at that. Al Gore looked like he was ticked at the world (probably still sore about the hanging chad incident)  I was also impressed at the low key exit by Pres. Bush. No grandstanding like Bill did.

All in all, very impressive transfer of power by two true gentlemen.

a very good summation. I like the part where Justice Roberts screwd up the oath and Obama caught it and waited for him to correct it.

I've also noticed that most media sources that replay the oath actually edit it to only play clips so you can't tell it was screwed up.  I bet that wouldn't have done that for W Smiley

I thought it all was great - This is the first time I can remember actually being excited about politics voting in general...and this is from a guy who voted in Florida during the past elections.
