Any suggestions? I'd prefer to do something Charlotte based this month as we were up north this month. I'm thinking about meeting at Midtown Sundries again for lunch and a drive, but I'm open to ideas.

How about a meet in the middle somewhere.  Maybe Mooresville area?  Lunch at Lancasters BBQ, then a trip to Simpson World?

Lancasters is a NASCAR themed restaurant frequented by many of the race teams and an occassional driver.  It is full of driving suits, bent car parts, worn tires, etc... and it has a full size bus built in to the dining area.  It is kind of like a Daryls, if anyone remembers those.

Simpson World is a great place to buy helmets, driving shoes, driving suits, trinkets and doo-dads all race related.

Just a thought......

I'm familiar with both of them - just up the road from Midtown. That would work and be something different. We also have pretty simple access to some decent country roads from there.

Any other ideas?

Are these roads conducive to bottoming out or wife sickening Wink

We both like the idea.  I'd like to pick up a neck brace so I don't have to borrow the stinky ones at the track.  Another thought - we could hit the indoor kart track in Charlotte after lunch.

Is the indoor track in Mooresville any good?

Dave, I suggested these events just so no one would get sick this time out.  I promise no fast driving by me... even though the super charger should be on by then  :devilish

All those ideas sound great.  What date are you guys considering?  OK if I bring the ///M?

Kat, you and the ///M are more than welcome.

As a side note, I have a BMW race shop working on my Lotus right now.  You ever do any business with Korman's in Greensboro?  He does mostly race car prep and had some really cool cars in the shop.

From a purely selfish standpoint, it would be cool if the event was on a Sunday since I have class almost every Saturday.

I don't have any problem with Sundays.  Not sure if as many things will be open or not though.

Sounds good to me.  If we did a Sat and if there was any interest, I might be able to get us a behind the scenes tour at MWR.

Another great idea Steve!

kjakk - I haven't been to the track in Mooresville, but Victory Lane down this way is excellent

Kat - The M is always welcome

Saturday is probably a better day from a scheduling perspective, but I am open to anything. I am thinking the third weekend of the month - does that give anybody heartburn?

Yeah, I think I just need to resign myself to the fact that I wont have a life for the next two years Sad

I can't believe I'm about to say this...I must have truly become a citizen of North Carolina.

Can we make sure if we do it on a Sunday that it isn't during a race?  Wow, that was hard to say "out loud."
