You know....I think TWC is being conservative.  I was looking at the weather radar in motion and it seems like the system that's coming through right now is moving fast enough that it should be gone by tomorrow.

I'm really hoping I don't wake up to rain tomorrow.  I have plans that would go best with dry pavement for Friday and Saturday!

Looks like a pretty strong chance of rain for the area on Friday and into Friday evening.  So even if there is only a chance for a passing shower on Saturday, the roads will still be wet.  Here is Accuweather's forecast and they are pretty accurate http://www.accuweather.com/us/nc/lake%20lure/28746/forecast.asp?partner=accuweather&traveler=1&zipChg=1&metric=0

Anyone up for postponing this until better weather?

I know last minute changes can be a pain in the rear, given our unfortunate loss of Mirroredshades at the last meet, so it would be good to just to stick with the date...BUT...we're talking about driving very expensive cars on very challenging roads and it would be silly to risk something stupid on a slick, leaf covered road just to keep an arbitrary date.  I'd also bet the hotel would be glad to let you switch dates in the off-season.

I say we make a game time decision tomorrow evening.  We should also get some sort of cell phone list going so we can call people in the event of a rainout.   evil5

Game time decision it is. I have most of your cell phone numbers, but please PM them to me again so I can make sure I have everybody. I'll also blast out a newsletter to the group if we make it a no go. MAKE SURE YOU CHECK THIS THREAD BEFORE HEADING OUT.

we will make the go / no-go decision by 3pm tomorrow.

burple, assuming it's a go, what time are you comfortable getting to hickory? The Charlotte contingent will work around that to make sure we arrive about the same time.

I'm about an hour and 20 minutes from Hickory, so 9:30 or so would be ok.  What do you think?  We are pretty flexible.

That would put us leaving Lake Norman around 8:15. Works for me.

Now if we can just get the weather to hold Smiley

We'll make the call at 3:00 tomorrow.

Ouch.  It seems like Lotus owners aren't much for sleeping in on weekends.  Maybe I'll just sleep an extra half hour and drive twice as fast Smiley
