Ah, I understand now! I'm definitely more in the "hardcore driving" camp, so I think I'm going to sit this one out! Have fun and post pics!

Let me just confirm with the GF and I think we will be in for an overnight. I never met a bar I didn't like. I've been waaayyy busy at work, unfortunately it seems I have more to do when the business is soft....

I don't think reservations will be a problem. I'd rather wait until the first of the week and look at the 5 day forecast before doing much more planning.

We mention the Official Carolina Car Club Drinking Team ™ and JnC immediately signs up for the over night stay... hmmmmmmm I'm a teetotaler, so I'm not going to be much help there. I could be the designated driver... gimme all your Lotus keys while you're at the bar.

What route do you all want to take to get out there?

Where is everyone coming from? Dave,Steve (if he ever commits) and I will be coming down I-40 from Winston. We can meet up with everyone somewhere around Statesville or Hickory. We can start the good roads around Morganton.

I know Mr. Bob is somewhere in the Hickory vicinity....I myself am down by Lake Norman in Huntersville. I could meet up with the group around Statesville as you're coming down from Winston.

Any easy on/off is the Burger King or Zaxby's off of Exit 132 (Right in front of Walmart). That way anyone who wants to take the back way up from the Lake Norman area can go up 16 to there too.

I see that the Parkway is closed http://www.nps.gov/blri/planyourvisit/roadclosures.htm If we go northwest from Hickory, what's your favorite roads that would eventually take us towards Asheville?

For those in the Charlotte / Lake Norman area, we usually meet at the gas station off exit 28 on I77. We can then cruise north and gather everybody else.

That works for me.....that's not far at all from my house (my old apartments were even closer). And when you say gas station....I assume you mean the Cashions that's right there as you come off the northbound exit ramp?
