If November 15th would draw a better group, maybe we should just shoot for that.

I'm up for whatever.  Still would like to go out this weekend before it starts getting too cold.

In November we'll have to watch out for leaves on the road.  Those are good for nice slick patches.

Would anyone consider doing an overnight?  Maybe a nice drive on Saturday to some destination in the mountains.  An afternoon in some quaint pub and then a nice dinner.  We could do Lake Lure, Burnsville, Dillsboro, Asheville, Blowing Rock or any number of places.  Blowing Rock (and several other places) even offer shopping to appeal to the ladies.  Middle of November should be wide open as far as hotel/motel/B&B availability.

Depending on the hotel...I could be interested.

Only stipulation: Drivers up front and cruisers can catch up.

I'd need to talk to Lisa, but we would probably be in. I know when we talked about it at the Mexican place, it sounded like a great time!

If we're going to do an overnight, I would be interested in something involving the Dragon.  It shouldn't be crowded anymore by then and you can get a lodge room at Fontana Village for $59 in the off season.

If we do a single day drive, we could do something like the original route that was listed.

Do you think we could work it into a two day thing for those that can do it, while others can jsut do that Satuday? Let's get this banged out today so we can get reservations setup if that is the way we want to go.

I'm not big on Deals Gap.  First, they patrol it heavy.  It's a long way to go even for an over night.  Weather this time of year is wet and cold at best.  You might even run into early morning slick spots.  And there is nothing to do for the co-pilots once we get there.  IMO, Deals Gap would make for a better spring time run.

How about something at a little closer and at a little less elevation?  Boone, Blowing Rock, Asheville, Dillsboro?  Think something with hotels, restaurants and activities.

Doing something between Asheville and Blowing Rock could work as a 1 or 2 day event since it's closer to home for most people.  Asheville tends to be a little bit warmer than Blowing Rock this time of year so that is a consideration.  Asheville also has many run roads to offer including 151, 215, 176, 63, etc.

Could get a hotel in Little Switzerland.  There's plenty of roads around there to drive in addition to the BRP.

I'll do a little surfing tonight when I get home and see what I can find in the Asheville/Blowing Rock area and post some suggestions.

I've stayed here several times.  Is very nice.  Excellent restaurant.  I like to stay in the main building with the grand hall common area but if you are just there to crash, you can stay in the parking lot view rooms to save money.

OK, lets come to a consensus here. I'm going to blast out a newsletter to get some more eyeballs on this. I don't know the area up there, so I'll have to depend on you guys. I just want something convenient and cheap. I like the idea of the Asheville / BR area
