As most of you guys know, Velocity Auto Couture has been partnering with Sector 111 to offer the Lotus community custom parts.  Velocity also wants to offer specials on service as well.  Please let me know what kind of service you are in need of.  We are offering oil changes for all Elise and Exige owners at $145.00

Actually, the oil is a simple change on the Esprit. One of the very, VERY, VERRRY few things that is easy. It's just like changing oil on a small block chevy. The filter is surprisingly accessible.

Ok....I have to ask.  For $145 are you guys getting gold plated oil filters and liquid platinum instead of oil?  I mean....c'mon......I get the oil changed in the Z for $30...and that's at the stealership!

Seriously....why is an oil change on a Lotus so expensive?

It's mostly the labor.

You have to remove and replace the aluminum underpan - roughly 13 fasteners.

Lotus also requires an expensive grade of synthetic oil and a pricey filter.

Buy the oil on sale at Autoz...er, NAPA
Remove the belly pan in your garage (takes about 10 minutes the first time)
Drive to your local Jiffy Lube and let them do the dirty work $24.95 for labor and filter, using your own oil.
Drive back home and reinstall the belly pan (takes about 5 minutes)

Actually changing the oil yourself isn't hard.  I just hate dealing with the dirty oil and JiffyLube is less than a mile from my house.

ok ok...I will do elise/exige oil changes for 75 bucks. Just drive it over to my house, bring a six pack of beer, the oil and a filter. I'll even dispose of the old oil.

As far as the transmission fluid change I was given a quote of $200.00 to change both the tranny fluid and the oil.  You can call 704.244.3252 if you have any further questions.

I've changed both myself recently.  It's not that hard to do and no one would confuse me as a gear head.  Again, it's just a pain getting rid of the Fluid.

I know most places like autozone will take the used oil. Will they take tran oil as well? I'm a member at VIR and they have a nice set up to drop off old oil and even coolant.

Autozone, Advance, and most all parts places will take the oil.  I've just never found anything that didn't make a freakin' mess catching and/or transporting the old oil.
