The rattle I thought was a heat shield turns out to be an exhaust hanger.  It's a 30 second fix if anybody has a welder.  I had the JB weld in my hand and was just about to solve the problem but I figure since it is a Lotus, I should at least try to fix it right first...

I would swing by any "joe blow muffler shop" and let them tack it back.  If you need a reference I can give you one.
