Alright, screw it.  I'm driving to Mooresville this weekend to shop for some track gear.  Anybody near Charlotte up for a short meet?

How about Saturday at 11?  Talk/shop for a bit, then grab lunch nearby?

Talon, if that works for you, start a new thread about it in case people aren't  reading this one.  I would but I will be in class for a while...

I spent several hours last night and most of today doing the following to prep my car for the track:

Had new tires installed - Toyo R888.  The balance is perfect and they feel very good.
Changed the transmission fluid - what a PITA!
Installed new brake pads - Pagid RS4-2 blues.  The car stops MUCH more quickly now thanks to this, the tires, and the next step.
Bled the brake/clutch system.  Had to do the clutch twice as the first time air got in somehow.  Whoops.
Took out the shims and ABS bracket for max camber up front.
Adjusted the ride height on the coilovers to the track pack recommended settings.
Increased the damper rate from 3 all around to 8 in front and 7 in rear.  Oh so stiff!  (that's what she said)

The car turns and stops like a champ now.  All I am worried about for the track is improving the driver!

Sounds like your car is fully prepped now!  You'll like the Pagid Blues at VIR.  I ran them there last year and had zero fade even with repeated high speed braking.  I think I may pull some camber shims out before I go.  I am only running -0.5 degrees on each side in the front now.

As this is my first track day, I've been trying to think of everything I will need to bring to the event.  I'd love to hear some ideas from you guys on things that I must bring, in case I'm forgetting something.

Here's what I can think of so far.

Helmet
Driving gloves
Shoes - I looked at buying racing shoes, but couldn't justify the price yet.  Should my narrow, casual every day driving shoes be OK?
Pants/shirt - I don't have a racing suit.  What should I wear instead?
Camera
Sunscreen
Hat
Extra shoes for walking
Sunglasses
Foldup camping chair
Towels
Paper towels
Hand cleaner
Water
Snacks
Tools
Drill
Torque wrench
Air gauge - I don't have a compressor, will there be one there?
Extra brake pads
Brake fluid
Quart of motor oil
Glass cleaner
Brake cleaner
Coolant
Jack

Any necessities I'm forgetting?

And I have no idea where I'm going to put all of that in the car, so don't ask  Grin

Make sure you bring a long sleeve t-shirt to wear while driving.  I didn't last year and I got stuck buying an expensive one at the VIR pro shop.
