Sponsored by Lotus of Durham - *note* this is a duplicate of a thread started by Trackday. I just added the event to the Calendar view.

"We are delighted to announce a Lotus High Performance Driving Event planned for spring 2008. We have reserved VIR North Course for March 12th and March 13th and we have slots available for those who can attend. Last year we had a great turn out and we enjoyed being able to experience the best Lotus offers on the track. Lunch will be provided for Day 1 and Day 2, and dinner will be provided for Day1. You will need to arrange lodging for nearby hotels if you plan to attend Day1 and Day2 and you live far away. You may visit www.VIRclub.com to get the address, track layout, and on site lodging information.

For Day 1 and Day 2 we will furnish some refreshments, and a service bay, and some replacement parts in case you want or need to upgrade your car. We will again have 3 run groups: Novice, Intermediate, and Advanced with instructors for each skill level. Call me or email me to confirm interest and to reserve a spot. Spencer@lotusofdurham.com or               919-641-8176        are the best ways to reach me. You may also PM me. I can email you a registration form or take your information via the telephone. You will be required to have your car tech inspected at the course (we will provide techs), and you will need to bring racing helmet/shoes, and you will need to sign an insurance waiver form. Pricing for the event is $275 for day 1 and $275 for day 2, or save some money @ $500 for both days.
I thank you in advance for your participation and registration. We will have a great experience at VIR again.

I'll be on the way up there this time next week.  Will be there both days. I've never driven the "Stevie Wonders" on North course.  Am looking forward to following some better drivers. See you there.

I've never driven the North Course either, but I imagine a Lotus is a good car to drive it in!  See ya there!

I'll be there on Wednesday.  Looking at the long term forecast, it looks like Wednesday is going to be a perfect day for driving.  Sunny with a high of 62.

Work travel puts all at risk but I hope to go on day 2.  I hope I'm not a lone Lotus left on Thursday.....

I need to pick up a helmet and possibly gloves/shoes.  I haven't been able to track down a race apparel shop anywhere close to Raleigh.  Does anyone know of one?

Not close to Raleigh, but for future reference, there is a Simpson store in Mooresville.  Super place.  They have helmets, driving suits, gloves, boots, you name it, along with the usual Mooresville (Race City) Nascar memorabilia.  I love to go in there.  And, I wouldn't buy a helmet unless I can try it on first.

What is it called and where is it?

It is called Simpson World http://www.simpsonraceproducts.com/company/world.aspx.  If you are coming from Huntersville on I-77, take Exit 36, turn left at the top of the ramp (heading West).  Cross over the bridge and take the first road on your left.  Simpson World is about half a mile down the road on your left. http://www.simpsonraceproducts.com/company/mooresville.aspx
