I like the idea of a soft top. I have two hardtops for my car, but rarely use the glass one. The hardtop does fit in the boot, but it's a pain in the ass. A softtop would be really convenient during the summer.

Yeah, that picture was taken in November 2006.  I don't use the hard top a whole lot on my car except for runs like that in the middle of winter.
Are you going to be using the soft top for the dragon run this weekend?  I still have the hard top on atm....

If the forecast holds the way it looks now (70s) I will definitely run the soft top.

Any thoughts on a route after the dragon?  I was thinking of something like this: http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&hl=en&geocode=9463630551112873027,35.438950,-82.727430&saddr=deals+gap,+nc&daddr=franklin,+nc+to:rosman,+nc+to:Woodrow,+NC+to:candler,+nc+to:NC-151+%4035.438950,+-82.727430+to:bat+cave,+nc+to:black+mountain,+nc&mra=pi&mrcr=5&via=5&sll=35.525521,-82.264252&sspn=0.252032,0.63858&ie=UTF8&z=9

It puts us near I-40 a few times so people can head back if they want to and puts us closer to Charlotte and points east at the end of the day.

It also has some great twisties and hits some roads which are usually not crowded.

That's a great route.  We took almost the exact same one last summer on the motorcycles.  The only down side to it is most of it is 2 lane with very, very little passing opportunity in a car.

Yeah, sometimes you luck out though and people are nice enough to let you pass Smiley  It can make for a long day if no one wants to let you by though.

I have a rule... If a driver isn't doing the speed limit, I will follow him or her at a respectful (not respectable) distance until he or she has an opportunity to pull safely over and let me pass.  If they blow off that chance  Undecided, I pull in behind them a little closer and dance in their mirrors until they have another chance to pull safely over.  If they blow off that chance  Tongue.  I mount myself to their rear bumper.  Sooner or later the pressure gets to them or I make my own passing zone  Cool.

The weather is looking a little iffy now - I am going to play it by ear, but I might bail and go the following weekend instead if the weather looks better then.

I'm in for sure now.  I might stay a little closer to the dragon, maybe fontana or somewhere around there.

I'm going to stay at Fontana Village.  They have lodge rooms on special for $59 if anyone wants to jump in at the last minute.
