Hi Everyone, A local buddy of mine has a NSX and they are getting a group together to hit the dragon the last weekend in March. It would be great to get a few other lotus owners up there as well. We are driving up on Friday (Mar. 28th) after work and staying at Cherokee Friday night, meeting up early for breakfast and hitting the Dragon before it gets busy on (Sat. 29th). Then we'll probably do all of the other roads and come back on Sunday (Mar. 30th). The NSX's are staging in TN Frdiay night but that is another hour drive from Cherokee so we're going to just meet up with them on Saturday morning. If anyone is interested, the links and hotel information is below! Later - MYRELISE Holiday Inn - Cherokee, NC 37 TSALAGI ROAD P O BOX 1929 CHEROKEE, NC 28719 UNITED STATES 1-828-4979181 Driving Directions: FROM I-40W TAKE EXIT 27 (HWY 74) GO 33.5 MI TO EXIT 74 (441N) GO 7 MI TO INTERSECTION (HWY 19) TURN LEFT, HTL ON RIGHT 1/4 MILE. I don't think the NSX guys know the secret of the Dragon... the TN authorities are the ones cracking down on the Dragon. It's best to enter from the NC side, do a leisurely cruise over towards TN, then turn around and "enjoy" the drive back towards NC. There are much fewer "performance awards" collected this way!!!

I've been multiple times and haven't had any issues with the TN Troopers. I know they cracked down for a short time there but they shouldn't be out in force this early. The next weekend the S2000's have announced that they are there and I would bet money that you could expect patrols!

How recently have you been to the dragon? The last time I went was before the big crackdown started and I'm curious how bad it actually is now.

We were there in late August on the bikes. Patrols were in full swing then. At that time, they were hiding in the woods, writing tickets for anything! over the posted limit and generally harrassing anyone or anything that looked fast. We were on the Harleys, so they didn't bother us A lot of the motorcyclist and car clubs (especially the motorcyclist!!!) have brought this on themselves. I am an experienced rider, but being passed in my lane with on coming traffic by someone doing triple digits is a tad bit unsafe! I think the increased frequency of serious accidents and deaths finally got TN's attention. The same thing has happened on the Blue Ridge Parkway too. If you get caught speeding on the Parkway, be prepared for a sizeable fine. Gone are the days of the slap on the wrist and a $50 fine, all thanks to the crotch rockets.

Rain or Shine, we are going 28-30. We'll probably meet up with Bob if possible toward Hickory after we all get off work Friday and head up to Cherokee for the night. You should come!

That's a great pic, I've never seen you Elise with the hard top or stock wheels on it!

Yeah, that picture was taken in November 2006. I don't use the hard top a whole lot on my car except for runs like that in the middle of winter.
