I was planning on going down to Kershaw, SC for a day on the track March 26th.  Another Elise owner was planning on going also.

Anyone else interested.  Would be cool to see a few out there.

I guess it's about 45 mins from Charlotte.

It's just over $200 for a single day.

I'm signed for March 26th - can't wait.

There'll be another Elise there the same day - CMP from EliseTalk.

I'll take some pics

I don't think that I'll have my car during that period Sad     service time is approaching.

Had a great time yesterday at Kershaw!!  It's a great little 2.2 mile road course.

Had a scary moment when my brakes faded real bad as I was coming upto a kink in the back straight doing about 110mph!  I pumped them and they came back enough for the slow left hander at the end of the straight.  I went into the pits and found a little air in the brake lines.
Time for a brake flush and new pads methinks.

My tires held up very well, which was a nice surprise.

There was another Elsie there, so it was good to have something to pitch against.

I learnt that Corvettes are very quick on the straights, but suck through the bends!!  Also, had trouble keeping up with a full race prepped, 1967 Porsche 914!  Very similar power to wieght to the Elise, but had a very stiff chassis (and a better driver)!

I embarssed a 911 though - that was fun!

I'll try and post some pics later.

Actually it was kind of funny, coz afterwards he was saying "well I'm thinking of getting a GT3, coz it has better suspension"

I was thinking "Dude you need to learn to drive the car you have first!!!"

Nice, sounds like you had a good time!  How much total track time did you have, out of curiosity?

911's are a hand full to drive.  They have 60% of their weight behind them and most drivers don't have the nerve to accelerate thru a turn with them.  And at CMP, turn 10 (aka The Kink) is what separates the men from the boys.  If you were holding 110 thru the kink, you were doing very well.

Did they have the new section of track open at turns 13 and 14?

The 911 driver definately did not seem comfortable with the car - hence my not really understanding his desire to get a faster one!

Yeah the Elise following me was a good few mph slower than me thro turn 10 - he said I was driving crazy - I think I was just driving fast!

The new Turns 13 and 14 were done.  I hadn't driven the old ones, so I can't compare, but appartenly it makes those turns much quicker.  There is basically another overtaking straight now as you come out of turn 12 and upto turn 14 - it's really just a long sweeping bend that you can hold the wheel in one position and put your foot flat down.
I was just over 8000rpm in 4th gear before having to break for turn 14!   <- Much fun!

If anyone is interested, she said that we would get 10% off if we had at least 10 Lotus there.  That would put the cost just below $250.

Maybe something for June?Huh?

That has definite possiblities. we had 10 cars at the last meetup, so it should not be  problem.

Turn 11 is a 90º, turn 12 was a 90º turn as was turn 13, then turn 14 used to be about 110º with an increasingly rougher gator strip on the outside of it.  I got into it a couple of times and almost tore my front spoiler off.  There used to be a passing zone between 13 and 14.  It was great in a small car with quick acceleration, but there was nothing fast about any of it.  I saw the proposed changes but haven't been on the track yet to drive them.

Did you happen to meet a guy named Rick driving a blue Mustang GT?  He was supposed to be there last weekend.  From what he's told me about the Turn One schools, they are very thinly attended and you get lots of track time because they combine groups when they don't have enough people to fill them up.  Fewer groups = more track time!!
